The first thing you need to know about 400-level math classes is that the content can be heavily dependent on who teaches the course.One of the exceptions to this rule is Math 436; there has been consistency over time in this course. While Math 436 is a proof-based course, it is not a course on matrices.The classes with proofs are the hardest for me (311w, 312, 436) . Math 140 is hard because of the amount of hw and because they have newer professors who arent necessarily good teachers teach it. Stat 414 is a beast. Be picky about which professors you choose.
