The best method to measure co2 is through ph drop. Bubble counters do not tell you how much co2 you have in your tank. What works in my 6g tank might gas your inhabitants in your 40g. And size of bubbles are drastically different depending on pressure as well as diffuser. Everyone's setup is different. I'm emptying 5lb bottle every 4 months.
