I was thinking it was a rear wheel bearing, and even bought a new bearing, but now I'm not sure. It's mostly noticeable every time when making sharp lefts at low speeds like in and out of parking lots, but I notice it pulling away from stoplights and even in reverse sometimes.

Doesn't happen when engine is off or in neutral, only makes the noise when: Put in clutch. Put in gear, remove from gear. Let out clutch (noise) If I don't put it in/out of gear, there is no noise. Shifts normal, no other issues.

Due to the unique layout of the boxer engine, the exhaust pipes coming off the manifold are exposed to excessive temperatures.
