To answer directly, yes! They are reliable. Now with that said, I still have the original Hinda Foreman from 1985, I have changed the battery only 3 times! My Honda's have been very very reliable. I bought a 2019 kingquad 750 se a few weeks ago. Its the first Suzuki quad Ive owned and the biggest engine size. So far I really like it. Ive owned several quads mostly in the 450 to 500 cc size. Im 55 years old and not into the mudding thing. Another thing to note is if the valve timing is that far off or the chain has skipped teeth, you could possibly have a bent valve that is hanging up. I use Suzuki brand motorcycle oil, (10W40). However, I would use a thinner viscosity oil like 5W30 during the winter months. Suzuki however does not make a SAE 5W30 viscosity, so you’ll have to find an alternative brand with a similar viscosity that is JASO-MA approved for motorcycles.
