Research is the most overrated EC for MD application. Pursue something you are passionate about and can talk about it in length. It depends on where you’re applying. If you’re very strong in volunteering hours then you could do really well if you have mostly schools that are service heavy schools (GT, VCU, Rush, etc.).

Aug 25, 2021 · Here’s what you need to do : a) Contact your UG school's Registrar and see if you can get retroactive withdrawals for the failed classes. This is a thing at some schools and the worst that they'll tell you is "no". b) IF you have F/D/C- grades in the pre-reqs, retake them.

Of all the things you will do as a premed, it is quite possibly the only thing med schools do NOT care about. I would recommend starting with your school's prereqs. Definitely go in taking chemistry and lab, and maybe also biology. i’ve seen a similar story on SDN from an applicant with a 3.07 sGPA from undergrad and postbac and 508 mcat. Faha said they may not have a career in medicine without applying DO. Goro suggested try something else due to poor postbac performance. Others said apply DO. Applicant comes back later having well on an SMP and with a 517 retake.

I have a 504, balanced MCAT with 3.6 overall gpa and 3.45 sgpa. I've been told interview invite order goes high stats/URM/ mid level stats then low level stats. I know some of the DO schools that are currently sending invites to those with higher stats than mine, around 510 MCAT and higher gpa.
