To compute changes in execution quality, we collect every trade in the target and acquirer stocks and the quote in effect at the time of the trade from the NYSE Trade and Quote (TAQ) database. Following convention, we focus on only NYSE trades and quotes. We exclude stocks that split during the analysis period.
