Don't skip it. You just need a level with bushes. Since the dragons won't tire you should be able to harvest enough mushrooms to merge up very quickly. The secret healer level has bushes and only costs 1 chalice. It doesn't have any dirt or hills so you'll have to so that half elsewhere.
