Axton's considered useless for solo OP 8 - or, more specifically, his turret is. At those levels, because of the way things scale, Axton can no longer sit back and watch the turret murder the world for him. Legendary siren, legendary cat, blurred trickster with +6 chain reaction and +5 kinetic reflection, and a breakneck banshee with +6 fleet and +5 immolate.

We recommend going down the Cataclysm path, as it makes Maya much better in Solo, and you will majorly be playing solo during the start. Along with that build, try and get elemental weapons, especially SMGs, that make Maya almost untouchable in Borderlands 2

TL;DR: Tossing up between Maya and Zer0 for 2-3 man playthrough. Zer0 seems a bit more appealing but Maya would be better for a team run than a solo run. Need help deciding. Zero can get some ridiculous damage per shot with the sniper tree, and melee is mega fun.The biggest difference is co-op play. Because Maya is the best support character in the game, you will be expected to fill that role in co-op. If you like playing medic that's great. I'm not sure if it's even possible to defeat him solo with other characters unless you have ground-breaking gear that most people probably hacked into the game.
