John Deere 318 (M00318X222437) w/ Onan (Model Spec No. B43G - GA018/4060B, Serial No H823622911). Plowing snow for a couple hours in Jan. Running great and working hard, then it just died sounding like it ran out of gas. Gave it a spray of starter fluid (the kind with lube in it). Would start to start up, but not quite & then die.

The 318 is a real workhorse, and we can suggest what is likely your ignition related root cause as this thread unfolds and we see more of your test results. The primary resistance of the coil is not the only thing to measure. The secondary of the coil could be opening up at temperature which is a known failure mode.With a spark plug in the coil wire, and the plug touching ground (negative), touch the wire on the negative side of the coil to ground and then remove it repeatedly.
