I'm currently having issues with with my 2016 overheating while driving. Not all the way pegged to the right but the warning light did come on. With it parked, just idling, no issues. You could use an infrared thermometer to check for hot and cold spots in your radiator. At six years, should not be blocked with scale and rust, but possible.
