The downside is that channel congestion changes over time (neighbor adds a WAP, or neighbor's router auto-selects the channel you're on).
TLDR: make sure universal plug and play is on, use your own router with the Verizon one in bridge mode (asus is great brand for gaming), port forwarding through your router, and an Ethernet cable and you shouldn’t have issues in my experience.
