I replaced the defrost actuator in my 2017 Explorer. Apparently this pays really well for the mechanics because the dealer quoted over $1000 for the project. It took me 3hours and $38 for the new actuator. I actually found the electrical contacts wore out insides the unit. FYI, the actuator for the Mode door is a AA5Z-19E616-A or YH-1769. This is different than the blend actuators that are AA5Z-19E616-C or YH-1779. I replaced both of those as well while the dash was apart (as preventative maintenance).
