Mar 22, 2017 · Member. Hey guys! So the 656 I'm working on has been converted to electronic ignition (pertronix ignitor). This was done shortly after the owner noticed it was running poorly and lacking power. Now I have found some mechanical issues, but had a few electrical questions as well. First, coil says external resistor required, but I don't see one. Electronic systems are fine as long as they are working. When they quit - your out of luck until you can diagnose the problem and obtain repair parts. Standard ignition - easy problem diagnosis and parts are as close as your nearest autoparts store - any day and Sunday afternoon until 2 PM. An hour of down time and the tractor is back up and ...
