The pros and cons I can think of: Light: Better perks. 50% stamina regen. Easier smithing paths. Less weight, less stamina drain, faster movement speed. Heavy: Better looking armor, more immersive for a melee warrior. Use steed stone to counter the weight issue.

To be honest, it all depends on the playthrough for me. If i go heavy armor, its to be a walking tank. I use the steed stone to negate the weight it has and buff my health and stamina. Light i use for sneaky builds, because stealth is broken in Skyrim
