Anime just finished V14 out of 18. Pacing depends on the season, 1 and 4 are considered pretty good, 2 and 3 not really. Yes it skips a lot, including inner thoughts of characters to the point some characters are misrepresented. Season 2 skipped A LOT. In general the action scenes are pretty well done.
